Being a small press, one would think the opportunity for thoughtful freedom and a welcoming channel into the independent bookstore world would be as seamless as a handshake, a smile, and a nicely printed book, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Mark, and the other folks at Itasca Books, offer a nice bridge. Dock Street books are beginning to appear in stores throughout the country because Itasca makes it easy for stores to order. It’s reassuring to know our books are in good hands.
When I started my press, I wasn’t sure where to turn for distribution. As I became familiar with the assortment of services offered by Itasca, I realized I had found a customer fulfillment solution to help level the playing field enjoyed by much larger publishers.
What separates Itasca from the rest? A work ethic second to none and a dedication to personally satisfy their clients without losing sight of the house’s mission. Itasca’s efficient operations help ease my mind on delivery logistics and allow me to focus on the softer, creative side of publishing.
For a small press to have its printer and its distributor together under one (or two adjoining) roofs, is a great thing. The direct-to-customer portal is a perfect option if you can’t do D-T-C yourself. And, an accessible and reliable staff is a great asset in an age when we don’t always have the luxury of a consistent service experience.
Working with Mark, Judy and the entire team at Itasca has been a pleasure. Their distribution model is practical and effective, and their approach is personable and collaborative. I’m delighted to be bringing our books to market through Itasca.
Itasca handles all of our distribution needs, from metadata entry to storage, fulfillment, and returns, with admirable, no-hassle efficiency.
